Oerlikon Barmag is the global leader in the construction of spinning facilities for such synthetic fibers as nylon, polyester and polypropylene as well as texturing machines. Core competencies in this area include plant design, facility design and construction, and the production of related components like winding heads, pumps and godets. Located at the business unit’s headquarters in Remscheid, Germany, the Oerlikon Barmag R & D center is the largest of its kind in the world. Here, over 100 engineers and technicians develop technologically-leading products for the future.
Markets & core competencies
In addition to plant design, spinning and texturing systems, the core competences include the manufacture of components such as winders, pumps and godets. In the Oerlikon Barmag Technical Center in Remscheid, the largest of its type in the world, leading innovative processes and technological products are developed for tomorrow. The product range is rounded off by a comprehensive after-sales service.
Oerlikon Barmag's main markets are in Asia, particularly in China and Taiwan, and in the Near and Middle East and Europe as well. Accordingly, with about 8,000 employees in 120 countries with production, sales and service organisations, the company in the Oerlikon Textile network is near to the customer everywhere.
Products & solutions
As the world market leader, Oerlikon Barmag looks back on many decades of development and production of high-productive and innovative spinning systems and texturing machines for the man-made fibre industry. This also comprises the development of components, such as winders, pumps and godets.
The spinning systems and components are suitable for all fibre applications: POY, FDY, industrial yarns and others, e.g. HOY or LOY. Oerlikon Barmag plants are able to process a multitude of polymers, such as polyester, polyamide 6, polyamide 6.6 and polypropylene. In addition to textile fibres for the production of clothes, the yarns produced on Oerlikon Barmag machines are also to be found in home textiles, in outdoor equipment or even in safety belts, airbags and car tires. Especially the so-called "industrial yarns" sometimes have to bear up extreme stresses and to fulfil highest safety requirements: variations in temperature, humidity or extreme dryness or friction - without losing their shape and resistance.
Oerlikon Barmag is also present in the upstream processes: With Barmag poly-condensation systems, the filament yarn producer is in a position to reduce his dependency on the raw material supply and to largely determine independently the raw material characteristic. With more than 80 years of experience, Oerlikon Barmag knows the demands in the filament spinning sector very well and transfers them into process-optimised work steps. From the monomer to the yarn - all from one source.
Oerlikon Barmag's total solutions comprise all "life situations" of a man-made fibre: including the recycling of materials made of filaments that had been produced on Oerlikon Barmag machines, such as textiles or even tires.
